Congrats to Scott County for winning the team title and for Megan Wilshire for the individual. Both defended their titles from 2008. Ayla Rhinesmith also from Scott County placed 2nd. Also on the Scott County team are Liz Gumm, Kacey Dunn and Mallory Lovall. Congrats to Coach Carpenter.

 

Mason County took 2nd place as a team. Christen Cropper, Tiara Harris, Lauren Vice, Bethany Foister and Bridget Morris make up the Lady Royals. Congrats to Coach Arn.

 

Individually, Polly Whalen, Harrison County, took 3rd place and qualified.

Abby Ruberg, Bishop Brossart, 5th place and qualified for state.

Kristen Smith, Pendleton County, 6th place and qualified for state.

And Jessica Shelton from Bourbon County grabbed the last finalist spot.

 

Conditions were tough as it was cold, very windy and 4-5 holes at Houston Oaks were underwater 36 hours before the tournament.

 

The girls played the ball down and NO lift, clean and replace rule for them.

It was a REAL test.

I never would have dreamed that Houston Oaks would host a tournament that quickly. I drove by on Saturday and much of the course - the part close to Highway 68, anyway, looked to be a couple of feet underwater.

I noticed the same thing while driving past on Saturday. Couldn't believe that they would be hosting a tournament in 2 days. Unbelievable.
