Tell me who will contend with St. X this year. Will they dominate for the next 2 years?

I believe no one will challenge St X this year. Although they took 3 seniors to state last year, they are deep. Their B team beat my son's team in a tournament last year. Justin Thomas is the best junior in the state and should win the State High School individual championship too.

 

I don't want to get into a public/private debate here, but St X has an obvious advantage.

Emma Talley should be the favorite for individual title while Lydia Gumm, Emily Haas, and Megan Wilshire will give her a run as best they can.

Second, any school that can pull in students from a wide area has an advantage over schools confined to a specific area. Although some schools with defined areas have an advantage because of a golf club within their bounds.

 

Third, St X has a great history of success in athletics. They can provide players more than other schools in the state.

Maybe not this year as they are very young but watch out for West Jessamine the next few years. Eighth grader Fred Allen Meyer challenged the St X boys this weekend at Neville Mead shooting 72 (not bad for an eigth grader), 2 back of St X's #1 player, Justin Thomas, who was low golfer. Seventh grader Conner Haas is another up and comer for West. He is a very good ball striker with a great putting stroke. As he has not physically matured yet and he struggles with length. When he grows and adds distance he will be a force. Travis Rose is a freshman at West. Another player with high potential.

 

They are very young......I predict that West will compete with X in the near future!!!!!!!!!!!

Fan of 11th~I did see the scores from the KIT. I was very impressed to see the 8th grader Meyer contend. I was not suprised!!! Look out upper classmen. There are many middle schoolers on the come that will make Kentucky Golf alot of fun to watch in the future!!!

There is a young lady from Sacred Heart (Lindsay Gahm) who has actually beat Emma; and Lydia twice this year. I saw her shoot a 69 at Perry Park; a 71 at Weisinger Hill. She has medalist honors in all her tournaments except for last week at Kenton County Country Club she shot a 73 and beaten by Greenup County Junior Hannah Sublett. She will definitely be in the hunt. But Emma is definitely the favorite.

You are right, I missed that she was not included in that list. I also watched her and was very impressed.

Emma is in a league of her own. No disrespect to the others mentioned. They are all very good!!!! Emily can go low and will continue to gain confidence.
