Someone started a thread for the 14th region to base their discussion on and I thought that would be a good idea for the 13th region. After the regular season games have been played, here is a short rundown of how all the 13th region teams stack up.

49th District @ Clay County

Redbird 0-9 vs. Jackson Co. 10-7 (5/18 @ 5:00 PM)

Clay County 19-3 vs. NL 9-12-1 (5/18 @ 7:00 PM)

50th District @ Corbin

SL 18-4 vs. Williamsburg 5-19 (5/18 @ 5:30 PM)

Whitley Co. 14-11 vs. Corbin 15-13 (5/18 @ 8:00 PM)

51st District @ Lynn Camp

KC 8-13 vs. Lynn Camp 1-12 (5/18 @ 5:00 PM)

B'ville 7-12 vs. Pineville 5-9 (5/18 @ 7:00 PM)

52nd District @ Harlan

Bell County 16-7 vs. Harlan 6-12 (5/18 @ 6:00 PM)

Middlesboro 16-6 vs. Harlan County 7-16 (5/18 @ 8:30)

I think that the eight teams that will come out will be Clay (1), Jackson (2), SL (1), Corbin (2), Knox Central (1), B'ville (2), Middlesboro (1), and Bell County (2).

On a side note, could the 51st District be the worst district in the country? I think it may be a possibility.

Their are two alternates however, that could very well end up coming out of their districts and they are NL and Whitley County. If NL comes out of their district, it would be a disappointing end for the Clay County team no doubt.

I actually think NL has a pretty good chance of making this happen.

North Laurel is on a little roll after defeating Whitley,Corbin and Harlan County over the past week.North Laurel is starting to show this region what a force they will be over the next three years.

I know everyone has a tendency to think that they are the team of the future but I do know that SL, Corbin, KC, and Clay County all have pretty young teams that have great potential.

The number of young players doesn't always translate into quality young players. NL does have a good group of young kids though. I look forward to seeing them develop.

The regional tournament will be at Whitley County High School.

Nice facility. I was at the semi-state a few years ago, and was really impressed by this facility. LONG fences, but a very nice field.

I think the favorites should be SL and Clay, but with the way the season was winding down, anything could happen. North Laurel is very young with a ton of freshman playing key roles and at least 1 8th grader who is starting. However, with a young team, you never know what you are going to get.

My favorites to win it (in order) would be:

South Laurel (will throw off first game be ready to get a #1 seed in the regions)

Clay County (should make it, but playing a talented but very streaky and young NL team makes it interesting)

Bell County

Whitley County (but they have a tough row to even GET to the regions facing Corbin then probably SL in the very next game)

Corbin

Middlesboro

North Laurel

Another team to watch in the future is Barbourville. They start a TON of freshman and they will continue to improve the next few years. Solid group, just very young right now.

How in the world did you put Corbin over Middlesboro. They got thumped by them not even a week ago. And even though they haven't played, based on like opponents, I feel the same way about WC and Middlesboro.

My order of favorites is:

1. SL

2. Clay County

3. Middlesboro

4. Bell County

5. Corbin

6. North Laurel

7. Whitley County
