Great throw and tag by CCH on that play. IMO that play shouldn't have even been close much less an out but Stegner (runner seen in pic) slowed down halfway to home to keep his helmet on his head.

 

Thats what I thought too! I thought I was just seeing things though.

From my spot (and NKU you know where I stand at) I saw him grab his helmet but I thought maybe he slipped coming down third base. Did he somehow think that if he lost his helmet, he would be called out?

I do not think that was it. I believe he was just reacting to it falling off and wanted it to stay on.
