All A Classic sectionals from Bethlehem.

 

The Eagles put up three runs in the bottom of the first and starter Nick Carrick made them stand up. Bethlehem advances to Applebee's Park with the win, where they will face the winner of the Somerset/9th Region champ sectional.

Good Luck to Bethlehem at Applebees they do what good teams do they captialized on Carroll County errors and other mistakes. Carroll put themselves in postion a couple times to tie or take the lead and Bethlehem made the plays or pitches they needed to.

I just went by what they had in Bethlehem's book and compared it to my notes. I tend to be pretty forgiving as a scorer, but I didn't see the first inning.

Carroll County had 2 errors in the the first inning plus a FC that resulted in no outs.

 

Bethleham made the plays when they need to and Carroll didn't. To me the play of the game was the line drive to right field that the first baseman (6'4") caught. If he was a couple of inches shorter it ties the game up.

 

Good luck at Applebee and looking at the forecast, St. Joseph's need to start praying for better weather.

It apparent that Carroll Co. was shakey defensively from infield on through the game. They are a young team and will improve. Had not faced much challenge early in year.

I will say this and only say this one time. This team will not be complete until Kevin Welch is part of the every day lineup.

I probably am going against the rules by saying this, but....missing the Class A Tournament for a Spring Break Trip does not show commitment to a team. Everyone that has played any baseball knows that your Spring Break will be spent on the field.

 

I would much rather have a slightly less naturally gifted player that has twice as much commitment to the team, than someone who is going to choose to leave for a vacation during the Class A Tourney. I applaud the coaches for their stance on this issue

I will not second guess Coach Jones or his Father they are getting this program back to where it needs to be. I am just stating a fact and that was very evident Friday night when Carroll beat Austin Indiana. He can make things happen on the field. This is a good bunch of boys and the coaches continuously challenge them to get better in the smallest of details.

Glad to see Carroll County baseball doing well again. GO PANTHERS!
