Ashland 8 Rowan County 0

Featured Replies

Ashland — Sophomore pitcher Katelyn Miller had Rowan County at her mercy Thursday night.

Miller racked up 17 strikeouts in her third no-hitter of the season as Ashland blanked the 16th Region’s defending softball champs 8-0.

Miller set the tone by whiffing the first five batters, including Kentucky career home run leader Amber Riddle.

“Katelyn dominated us,’’ said Rowan County coach Larry Slone. “Until we learn how to hit a raise ball, we might as well stay at home.’’

The Lady Vikings aren’t alone. Miller, 6-0, has yet to allow an earned run this season. She kept her fastball climbing and Rowan County’s hitters kept swinging and missing.

She is legit! Will be hard to beat in 16th.

Scoring on the error and not a hit was questionable. The LF ran at least 45 ft. to get to it. Thats a long run for an error. The game was at Ashland the home team usually gets the breaks on scoring.

This ain't basketball season anymore is it? Great job ladies.

So she basically ran from home plate to only 3/4 of the way to first, and dropped the ball? Sounds like an error to me.

The lf was playing very deep against the fence. It was a long run for the ball I've see the scoring go both ways on a ball hit like that.
