combovers1 Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Looks Good, but I would maybe change a couple of teams in the 4th....Hart, Caverna, Glasgow, Barren would be a natural district with four teams in neighboring counties. Put Alllen, Monroe, Metcalfe, Green in one. Adair, Russell, Cumberland, Clinton. Then the Bowling Green schools in one. Also there is another Warren Co. school being built in the Plano area, so there would be five teams in the Bowling Green District. Good job though, that is a lot of work.
DreamLand Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 I hear Clinton and Russell are wanting to be moved to the 12th region. Moving the two Jessamine teams back to the 11th.
sportsmaniac Posted March 15, 2009 Author Posted March 15, 2009 I was unaware of the new Warren County school. I wasn't exactly sure of the locations of the schools in these counties so i just kind of guessed based on current alignment. If you feel your 4th region districts make more sense I will change on my proposal. I just need some more feedback from others. Thanks for the input though.
sportsmaniac Posted March 15, 2009 Author Posted March 15, 2009 Everybody wants moved to a more beneficial region for them, but there is no way that Russell or Clinton can be moved in that direction with all of the consolidation going on in the western part of the state. This is not being done for the benefit of one or two schools, this is being done for the benefit of the state as a whole.
southernkyhoops Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Pick any other region for Clinton and Russell, there are five other regions closer than Bowling Green. It is a 2 hour trip from Clinton County to WKU. We can get to lexington quicker.
DragonFire Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 ^ sportsmaniac is right, it will be difficult to accomplish that given that it's western Kentucky that will be in a crunch for schools, and there's not really room to move teams in another direction.

While Barren County & Hart County do fit naturally, it is unnecessarily difficult on your configuration of AC/S to Green. I think it should look like: District 13 (Unchanged, moved from District 14) Bowling Green Greenwood South Warren (Beginning in Fall 2010) Warren Central Warren East District 14 (Unchanged, moved from District 15) Allen County-Scottsville Barren County Glasgow Monroe County District 15 Caverna Green County Hart County Metcalfe County District 16 Adair County Clinton County Cumberland County Russell County This packs all the schools in closely. Ultimately, I hope that it is not this drastic, as I really don't want to lose some of these schools. Todd County Central is really the only school I'm all the way OK with losing. I guess I'd deal with Russellville and Logan County, but there's history stretching all the way back to the 1920s with schools in those areas and the rest of the region. Same for Franklin-Simpson, which would be a real bad loss IMO. I think overall, this would really hurt the competitive level of the region, as Caverna, Green County, and Hart County are generally all also-rans in their region.
sportsmaniac Posted March 16, 2009 Author Posted March 16, 2009 (edited) I like your suggestions. I am unfamiliar with the area so your expertise of the 4th and the locations of the school might be better than what I set up. My main objective was to get actual discussions going about the plan. DragonFire Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 My new take on it to pair with the 1st and 2nd Region thread: Indicates District Movement Indicates Region Movement Third Region 9th: Apollo, Daviess County, Owensboro, Owensboro Catholic 10th: Butler County, Hancock County, Ohio County, Trinity (Whitesville) 11th: Breckinridge County, Frederick Fraize, Fort Knox, Meade County 12th: Caverna, Edmonson County, Grayson County, Hart County Fourth Region 13th: Franklin-Simpson, Logan County, Russellville, Todd County Central 14th: Bowling Green, Greenwood, South Warren, Warren Central, Warren East 15th: Allen County-Scottsville, Barren County, Glasgow, Monroe County 16th: Adair County, Cumberland County, Metcalfe County, Russell County The 3rd Region currently has 15 schools due to Muhlenberg County's consolidation, and will lose at least 1, possibly 2 to the 2nd Region. This scenario presumes the loss of 2, which would drop them to 13 teams. Ohio County would be the only 10th District school left standing after the departure of McLean and Muhlenberg County to the 2nd Region. They share a border to the south with Butler County, Hancock County from the north, and pick up Whitesville Trinity from the edge of Daviess County. Fort Knox has been in a district with Meade County before and is desperate to get out of the 17th District, and could form a northern district with them and the Breckinridge schools. The Hart County schools are the only other border schools that fit naturally with the 3rd Region. Two schools are going to have to go to the 3rd Region in any scenario, because they'll have no more than 14 teams. The only counties that border the third region as it will be are Logan County, Warren County, Barren County, Hart County, and Hardin County. Warren County is going nowhere, Logan County is probably too far south (as well as causing issues in the 4th Region), as is Barren County. The only Hardin County school that would move is Fort Knox. That leaves the Hart County schools, which would fit fine with Edmonson and Grayson County. In the 4th Region, the only change I have is to bring in Adair County to expedite the move Clinton County so desperately seeks. I don't know that that will happen. I think Russell County wants out as well, but they are nowhere near the travel hardship that Clinton County has, because Russell County is right on the Cumberland Parkway. Clinton County has to go a half hour to get to that to expedite their trip anywhere else.
laker55 Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 All you guys continue to say that Russell County wants out of the 4th. I don't know where you are getting your info, but being close to this source I can tell you that this is a false notion. Travel to Wayne and other Eastern Time Zone locations are hard plus everyone forgets Russell has to go around Lake Cumberland to get to these areas and the roads are not very poor compared to the cumberland parkway. Russell would definitely vote to stay in the 4th if they had a vote in the matter

Russell would definitely vote to stay in the 4th if they had a vote in the matter I should have said I've been told Russell County wants out, and that's not by Russell County people. I still have the suspicion that no one is leaving this region to go east, and the 4th Region could conceivably be totally untouched by realignment if Todd County Central was not moved into the 2nd Region. Clinton County has a case to leave, and if they go, so be it.
