Garrard County and Danville will meet Wednesday evening at 7:45 in a highly anticipated 45th District tournament game. Both sides have had very good years, although both teams have also struggled some down the stretch. Garrard was 19-5 at one point, before losing three of their last four. Danville also lost their last four games of the season.

The two teams split the regular season series, with Garrard winning by four at Danville and Danville winning by three at Garrard. The rubber match will be at Boyle County, with both teams looking to advance to the district finals, where they will meet the winner of Lincoln County and Boyle County/KSD. It should be a great week of basketball in the 45th District.

Historical Preview:

*This marks the 77th meeting between the schools

*Danville leads the all-time series 53-23

*This will be the 4th meeting at Boyle County, where Danville has won all three prior matchups

*Garrard and Danville have met 12 times in district tournament play, with Danville leading 11-1

*Garrard's only tournament win over Danville was a 71-61 win in 1977

*Garrard has won 8 of the last 11 meetings overall in the series

School Records:

*Garrard County's 20 victories are tied for the most in school history (1982 and 1989)

*Garrard is 5-1 at neutral sites this season, with the lone loss to Taylor County

Rumor is that Danville's top scorer will not play. I don't know how true that is, maybe and Ad fan can shed some light on it. If it is true, I think Garrard wins the game by double figures.

If it isn't true, I think it will be a battle.

Can anyone confirm this?

Probably not until Wednesday night. LCPats and I have had this conversation on and off BGP for a couple weeks and we can't get actual confirmation. I won't believe it until he doesn't play on Wednesday.

I'm going to make a prediction, knowing what he means to the Ad's..... he will play.

Just spoke with someone in the know...Taylor will play on Wednesday.
