Ballard 76 Jeffersontown 73

Those EC Lions will have to work hard to keep up with Ballard, but I think they can make it a game.

Nice win for Ballard. Anyone else think J'town may have been a little overrated and Ballard underrated in the 7th at the beginning of the year?

Coach Renner doesn't discourage his players from playing football. Thus, he gets several of his key guys a lot later in the season than other coaches who are notorius for applying subtle or even not-so-subtle pressure on his players to "get their gym time" during the fall.

His teams probably then will always be underappreciated EARLY, and there'll undoubtedly be some "timing issues" between the guys that have been practicing since Oct. 15 and the guys that came out after football.

But LATE in the season (when it matters most) he'll have a team that is more mentally tough, more physical, a little more likely to dive after a loose ball or take a charge, and are more 'well-rounded' athletes. And, I think he realizes that "football mentality" can rub off on his guys that play bball-only in practice.

Saw quite a bit of that mental and physical toughness from these guys (and not JUST the football-basketball guys either) Friday night at J-Town.

Congrats Bruins...keep it going.
