If it is played, however, it will be an interesting game. Danville has been playing really well (aside from their loss to Newport Catholic in the All A) and so has Garrard. The concern for Danville is how will they come back from a disappointing loss in Richmond. The concern for Garrard is how will they come back from an unexpected long layoff. Whoever responds to the concerns better will win the ballgame.

Garrard handled Danville in the opener for most of the game, until the Ads pressure defense picked up and the Lions missed several late free throws. If Danville's defensive pressure is good all game, then they can win. But if Garrard can break down their pressure and shoot the ball fairly well, then the Lions will win.

Historical Preview:

*This marks the 76th meeting between the two schools

*Danville leads the all-time series 52-23

*Danville won the first 29 meetings in the series

*Since breaking the streak in 1976, the series has been tied

*This will be the 28th meeting in Lancaster, with Danville leading 18-9

*Garrard County has won 6 in a row in the series, 8 of the last 10, and 11 of the last 15

*Garrard County's 16 victories are tied for the sixth most in school history

*Garrard County's 8 consecutive victories are tied for the second most in school history, trailing only a 9 game winning streak in 1970

*Garrard County's 8 consecutive home wins are also tied for the second most in school history, trailing the 11 consecutive home wins from 1998-2000

Well it is a big district matchup, I guess the electricity aspect is the problem?

I guess so. I'm sure they have it at the schools, but maybe not at some student homes? I'm not sure. If they don't play Tuesday, there are a limited number of dates left for rescheduling. I looked at the schedules earlier and I can't see any way they could make up a boy/girl game; it would have to be scheduled on different nights.

It would be nice if stats like those above were somewhere in the McCreary record book. It was destroyed by a former coach and I am not sure where other records may be.

Anyway... this is a very dangerous game for Garrard, in my opinion. I am worried that Danville will cause a lot of trouble with their athleticism and pressure. In a series, I would pick Garrard 7 out of 10 times, but I wouldn't be surprised if Danville won this game.

I agree about the danger of this game. In a way, Danville is the absolute worst type of team for Garrard to play, due to their athleticism. Garrard's kids aren't stiffs, but they realistically aren't as athletic.

But...in another way, Danville is a good team for Garrard to play. Too often Danville falls into the "run-and-gun without thinking" style of play, which absolutely get you beat against Garrard. The intelligence, precision, and patience that Garrard plays with can be unnerving to teams and often they fold.

I think you are right about Garrard winning a series with Danville. And while a series isn't happening, here's hoping the Lions can win this regular matchup, and can knock off the Ads in the district tournament if need be!

That's sad to hear. One thing you could do is search through old yearbooks. You won't find any stats, but it might have game scores listed. I'm glad I've got all of this stuff and wouldn't give it up for nothing.:thumb:

There is going to be a lot of key make up games, if this weather doesn't let up. All the area teams are starting to get behind.

I think that's the reasoning behind getting this game in. Garrard has already had Casey and Madison Southern iced out and there are no makeup dates. This one with Danville would have to be made up, but there isn't a whole lot of time to do that. Here's hoping that they get to play.
