Don Shields celebrated his 300th win tonight in Villa's game against Dayton. Just about the whole school plus past players turned out to celebrate the event.

 

Don has created a very solid program at VMA. Not sure if people realize that the High School only has 80 girls yet the team is very competitive year after year. The program really does not get the recognition or respect it deserves.

 

Don is a great role model for the girls and he truly has no ego. He didn't think anyone even knew that the 300th was coming up nor did he tell anyone. Everything is always all about the girls and never about himself. He represents the school and team with true class.

 

Don sticks with his team year after year regardless of what he gets and the girls benefit from that consistency. He would do anything for them as coach, teacher or otherwise.

Congratulations Coach Shields on a great accomplishment. Villa is very fortunate to have someone as dedicated and caring as you to guide the Girls Basketball program. 400 is just around the corner!

Great job coach! I wonder if the brother duo of Tim and Don have the most wins for brothers in the Region? State?

Good point - and likely to be true. Who are some of the other brother coaching combinations in northern Kentucky. I know the Trame brothers (and one still coaches) are a duo. Any others? And are there any sister combinations?

Coach Shields, quite simply, is a class act. He has been a wonderful role model for all of the students, much less "his" players, at Villa.
