Lincoln County/Garrard County postponed 1/9

Due to a Scoreboard malfunction, the game was postponed to a date to be determined.

No problem during the Girls' game. Lincoln County won 55-40.

This was very hard for the boys teams to get over. I know the kids from Garrard County have been looking forward to this game AT Lincoln since October 15th. I guess we will see what happens the next time these two meet up.

I was told the make-up game will be February 9 at 7:30. No admission charge that night. If only we could get free hot dogs......

That is hilarious! There were a lot of unhappy fans I can tell you that. I don't believe there was a seat empty in that gym.

Why not play it without a scoreboard? I have seen that before.

They must have thought it was too big a game (district seeding) to take any chances.

Yeah that is what was said. The referees wanted to use stop watches, but that was shot down. Garrard's administrators wanted to move it to Garrard County right then, and then have the game at Garrard on the 20th be at Lincoln, but that was also shot down.

I was disappointed in the way the situation at Lincoln was handled last night.

First, it was obvious that the scoreboard wasn't working, but no announcements were made for about thirty minutes. Why did the athletic director or someone in charge address the crowd with what was going on and tell everyone alternatives were being discussed.

Second, when they did make an announcement, it was "please clear the floor." Since it was obvious the game wasn't going to be played, why did that matter?

Third, if none of the alternatives were pleasing to the coaches/ADs, then why did it take thirty minutes to make a decision? They had quit trying to work on the scoreboard about fifteen minutes before the decision was made.

All in all, disappointing. Mainly because a packed house wanted to watch perhaps the region's most anticipated game of the evening, but also because of the lack of information being provided by Lincoln County's administration. Rescheduling and replaying is fine - it would have been tough circumstances to compete in last night. And throwing open the doors for free was the right move. But couldn't these plans have came about sooner?

I agree totally. I have heard that the attendance last night was one of the biggest crowd's Lincoln has had in a regular season game in a VERY LONG time, just by word of mouth. But by opening the rescheduled game up for free, I see all of Lancaster, Stanford, and a WHOLE lot of other people coming to watch this matchup. What a shame it was last night though.

Not even close to one of the biggest crowds. This team has been very well watched over the past few seasons. Many packed gyms. I mean standing room only.

Attendance has been down a little this season, and this was easily the biggest crowed of the 08-09 season. LC's biggest draw is usually Boyle County. I was glad to see Garrard fans out supporting their team. LC usually has more people on the Garrard side than they bring from Lancaster.
