Featured Replies

Boyle gets 1st win, after a slow start the Rebels were able to put away Monticello. The Rebels were down 9-10 after the 1st, then took a 23-20 lead by the half. Rebels outscored the Trojans 18-9 in the 3rd with a lead of 41-29, before the final frame. Coach Adams played 15 players in this game, 13 in the 1st half, as 12 players scored for Boyle Co.:thumb: The Rebels were lead by Jones with 9 points, Glasscock had 8, Aumiller and Macshara had 7,Tritapoe and Carmen had 6, Givahn-4, Perry, Mason, Crutchfield, and Goldsmith had 2, and Southerland had 1. Good win for the Rebels, Good Luck against Somerset.

We will take the win, since history or the past, does not help you in the present! Like you said a win is a win! Just glad to get the 1st one. Now go get number 2 tomorrow.

I'm not saying that history will get wins. But if Boyle doesn't find something, this will be a very long season. They have the talent to win and win a lot. You can't blame an 0-7 start on being without the football players.

Boyle had the talent and should have whipped (no offense) Monticello - plain and simple.

I'm not blaming the 0-7 start on not having the football players, however the Rebels were very fresh in the 3rd quater with nine reserves instead of the 4 we had before football season was over. I think Boyle was overlooking Monticello, even though we are 0-7, after the starters sat for most of the second quarter they came out ready to play in the 3rd. Then they sat back down with over 3:00 minutes left in the game. With Coach Adams playing alot of different combanations today I think he is trying to find that "something"

I won't blame an 0-7 start on being without football players, but you are also asinine to think it hasn't affected the team. As was stated, there are more than 4 reserves now, we got back two returning starters and all 15 players have a new coach and system to get used to. I know I may keep making excuses, but whether you want to believe it or not, the fact that the football players came back in less than a week after the Bell County is a factor as well. Mentally, they may not have been in the building. The Southwestern game was a debacle because most people in the stands were talking football and how Bell County barely won at state. I can only imagine what the football players were thinking and in all reality, maybe they should have all taken a week off to get mentally ready, because anyone who saw the Southwestern game knows that we weren't in the game mentally at all. You can talk all the 0-7 "can't get out of hole" stuff you want, but a win is a win, and that is the first step. It isn't even Christmas yet, we have yet to play a district game, and history doesn't matter in the present. If history was the case UK would be the best team in college basketball. As time goes on, you'll see the Boyle County team you expected to see. By looking at scores throughout the region, I find it hard to believe that there is a clear front runner at this point anyways, so whatever. Say what you want, we'll keep taking whatever steps we need to take and we'll see where we all are in February.:fight:

I never said that it hadn't affected Boyle County. True, the records are thrown out the window when the post season gets here. And you could go 1-20 for all it's worth, because I never said that you had a "hole to get out of."

History, history. Monticello is bad. They've been bad for a decade. I don't care if Boyle only has five players. Those five players should be able to beat Monticello. And with the other players Boyle has, they should have ran over Monticello.

Now I may be wrong, but this team just doesn't look like a team that will win. They haven't had the mentality, chemistry, or coaching this season to make me think otherwise. Boyle County has too much talent to be 1-7.

But to keep this thread from being closed, let's get back onto topic of this game.

I would say you are wrong.

How many Boyle games have you watched to come up with that assessment of the team after 8 games?

I will agree with that, but I don't think it is the end of the season because of the first 8 games.

Were you at the game?

Congrats Boyle, very nice win

Glad to see Boyle get off the zero. Good luck against Somerset.
