What is the recipe for a truly great basketball program?

Featured Replies

And what do you suppose a team with only five or six high schoolers on the roster do? Play with only those five or six? Or maybe they just sit the season out altogether and wait for those 8th graders to be freshman...

If a "A" school has to do that, then by all means do, but honestly how many schools in the state of Kentucky only have 5-6 high schoolers playing?

If its above "A" you might want to take a look at the program from K-12 as a whole and ask, "Why does only 5-6 kids want to play basketball here?"

Rome wasn't built in a day......and if an 8th grader makes that much of a difference in your season on the HS level.........you need to change coaches.......unless that 8th grader is 6'8", or the 2nd coming of Earvin Stepp, JJ Hylton, or Chris Harrison.

Mine did my 8th grade year so I got to see some minutes, not much, but a few and yes it was an A school but I understand what you're gettin at. Just throwing some hypothetical situations out there.
