Monroe County 61 Glasgow 32

Final

Great job Falcons...Very good play calling...not everything but just enough for a good win!!! Glasgow has a hard road ahead going 0 and 7 tonight, good luck Scotties.

With the win Monroe secured a home playoff game, and will now play Green Co. next week for the district 3 championship... Should be a great game...

:thumb: I was impressed with the play calling as well as the adjustments made by the Falcons tonight, especially on defense (wish we would have made the adjustments a little sooner:lol: ) all in all it was a good game and it was good to see the Falcons play with passion and intensity. Great performances by Caleb Maxey and the O-line as well as Tanner Kendall who was named player of the game...

Next week Monroe v. Green for district title, and Glasgow v. Metcalfe to see who goes to Bardstown and Danville in the first round.

While it appears Monroe County's senior class is finally living up to the expectations of their success at the lower levels, I am utterly shocked at the freefall of the Glasgow football program. This is a program that appeared in consecutive state title games within the last 10 years and had something like 15 starters coming back this year. I can't see the Scotties faithful being patient for too much longer.

Nor should they be... It is very clear to me Coach Lindsey is not qualified to be HC at Glasgow...

I agree. This was a program that was circled every year on many teams' schedules, including Bardstown. In 2000, Bardstown had to have a last second hail mary to beat them. In 2001, they played a war in the semistate game against the Tigers juggernaut state title team. In 2002, they were 9-3 and lost to OC in the 2nd round. In 2003 they were 9-3 and lost to Micah Johnson and Ft. Campbell in the 2nd round. In 2004 they were 9-4 and lost to OC in the region title game. All those playoff losses were close games.

In 2005, Glasgow came to Bardstown early season and Bardstown beat them 49-0. It was a shock. Bardstown had a good team, but Glasgow looked like they were playing JV's. They ended up going 7-4 and getting crushed in the first round by Trigg County. In 2006 they were 4-8. Last year they were 8-3 and I thought making a comeback, but got bounced in the first round by 4 td's to a Metcalfe team they beat in the regular season.

This was always a proud school that drew great home crowds, had one of the finest bands (bagpipes) I'd ever seen, had long tradition, and a history of powerful teams on the field.

Very, very strange.

If Barren County had suddenly turned into a decent team, I could understand why Glasgow slipped. But now, neither are very good.

I don't think you could combine Glasgow and Barren together and have a good football team...

NO BLOCKING, NO BLOCKING, NO TACKLEING, NO BLOCKING!

No folks this isnt your traditional Glasgow Scottie Football team. In the last 5 years we've went from an excellent program who knocked off #1 ranked Fort Campbell and Micah Johnson, to a team that is 7 games into the season and hasnt won a game.

Once again, the story of the night is.... Glasgow can't block and give the QB any time to pass or give the RB's a clear lane, and the Glasgow D can not make a tackle! It's as simple as that!

If anything looks bright right now, it's that the JV team has only one loss and that was to Bowling Green 7-6. The middle school is looking good as well.

Maybe one day we'll be back...

Micah Johnson wasn't apart of the 03 Falcon team or at least not a major part... and Bardstown trounced Glasgow 49-0... at Glasgow in the '05 Football season. They played at Bardstown the next year losing I think 35-6. :thumb:

It'd be nice to be back to '00 and '01 and have the Depps, Huffmans, Browns, etc... back. But i'm afraid those days are loooong gone.

We've still got the bagpipes though! Though they aren't even what they used to be.. :sssh:
