I realize this is mentioned in another thread but this needs its own thread:

Covington Catholic had the best big men that we saw, but their skill players could just not compete with Cardinal Mooney. The Cardinals systematically beat Covington in almost every facet of the game as they scored a very lopsided victory. Here is a closer look at some of the players we saw.

You want to make a name for yourself in a hurry? Try shutting down a five-star defensive tackle like Johnny Simon that is what worked for Kevin Connaughton and Seth Tepe. These two systematically took Simon out of the equation. Connaughton is a nasty dude. He gets off the ball in a hurry and keeps his pads low. His footwork is exceptional and he gets to the second level in a hurry. I would venture to guess that there aren’t many junior linemen in KY who are as good as this kid.

9 Pat Van Sant LB/TE 6-3/195 2009 Van Sant was a kid we watched closely in warm-ups and we liked what we saw. He has a great frame and is a muscled up guy who really gets into the game. He showed a lot of leadership as he seemed to take the vocal leader role. Van Sant looks like he’d be an animal, but we didn’t see him do much on defense and on offense he didn’t get much action at all. Overall, he seems like a solid athlete that could play somewhere, but he just seems like a tweener right now.

Good Report. Thanks.

That is a nice article and those CovCAth kids should be proud to be recognized even in defeat.
