Harlan Co 2008/2009

Featured Replies

What does Harlan Co. need to do to improve in 2008/2009? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Well they will enter the season as having the best gym in the state of Kentucky, hands down. That can't be bad.

Well they will enter the season as having the best gym in the state of Kentucky, hands down. That can't be bad.

How big is their Gym? Will the region be held there this year?

Seat wise, I'm not sure. I'll find out. The gym floor is the biggest in the state square footage wise. It has chair back in the endzones and in the lower arean. The upper section is old school with padded boards under a concrete slab. The basketball goals are all on wheels.

The capacity was listed at 3,500. The regional tournament is in our district (52nd) this year, but it's at Bell County. The region should be at Harlan County in 2013, which should be a good year for the Bears when the current eighth-graders are seniors.

Don't be surprised if HC doesn't buy a tournament before that.

If think for HC to improve the are going to have to get scrappy which Mike Jones will take care of. The point must be developed, and a backup added. Also they need a strong recovery for Caldwell, and Calton needs to become aggressive as his backup. McCowan can be very solid but needs to add weight. Too bad Wilson & Johnson didn't have another year.
