Israel mulls military option for Iran

Featured Replies

Isreal is building up it's strike capabilities amid growing anxiety over Iran's nuclear ambitions and appears confident that a military attack would cripple the program even if they can not destroy it.

The Jewish state has recently purchased 90 F-16 fighter jets that can carry enough fuel to reach Iran and will receive 11 more by the end of the next year. It also has bought 2 new Dolphin submarines from Germany capable of firing nuclear-armed warheads in addition to the 3 it already has.

Given the track history of Israel's previous attacks upon Iraq & Syria when they were building nuclear programs, do you think they will strike again soon?

I say yes, within a year! What will the ripple effect be? What say you?

If Israel does decide to strike Iran, we need to stay out of it all together.

WWIII will be the result of any attack from Israel on Iran or vice versa....

Which is why we need to stay out of it, unless we personally are attacked.

If Israel attacks them, or vice versa, I don't think there is anyway we won't be attacked. We're allies with Israel, which is enough to make Iran want to rid the world of us as it is.

Both Obama & McCain have said publicly that we have their back, so I don't think it is possible to stay out of it.

Israel has two choices - it can attack Iran's nuclear program or it can wait for Iran's nuclear program to attack it. Iran's constant threats to wipe Israel off the map paired with its determined pursuit of nuclear weapons makes doing nothing a non-option for Israel.

We will have no choice to aid Israel in our own national interests. In response to an attack by Israel, Iran will attempt to block oil shipments from the Gulf and we cannot allow that to happen. If war with Iran becomes inevitable, then hopefully Syria will enter the fray and Israel can deal with both of those outlaw nations at once, as well as the Islamic terrorist organizations, Hezbollah and Hamas.

Which is what scares me the most....A war with Iran would be winnable, but a war with Iran in which Russia sides with Iran...that scares me.

If we do take out Hamas, who do you think would be a good alternative to lead the Palestinians. You must remember that the only reason Palestine voted for Hamas, was due to the previous ruling party being so corrupt. Hamas in their campaign promised to improve the horrible infrastructure in Palestine, improve schools and other things.

If Hamas is "taken out," then maybe Palestinians will decide that continued support of terrorism is not in their best long term interests. There will be peace with Israel until terrorism is eliminated. The US-imposed stalemate has been in place long enough.

I once heard someone say that freedom is born of "terrorism". I am not a supporter of driving buses into buildings or the killing of innocents. But if we were not for terrorism, would our great country even be a country. Had we not terrorized Mother Britain when she occupied the colonies;would we be the same America we were today. I see the Palestinians war for freedom and their own country, sort of like our American revolution.

Let me clarify. When I say "take out" Hamas and Hezbollah, I mean kill every single terrorist on a battlefield, if at all possible, and then sentence any terrorists taken on the battlefield to a life sentence without the possibility of parole, at a minimum. The catch and release program has not worked.

Your comparison of the courageous men and women who founded this country to terrorists who intentionally butcher innocent men, women, and children is disgusting.

Look at it this way. Say that we were Britain at the time....Wouldn't you be disgusted how these upstart Americans are going around killing representatives of the crown. I am sure that the Sons of Liberty or other revolution groups had their fair taste of butchering the innocent. You have romanticized are revolution; to the point in which you believe that anything done during that revolution was "courageous" no matter what action was preformed. Oppression is the source of revolution! We were oppressed and we rebelled; the Palestinians feel oppressed so they are rebelling. Why should we go make them go through the civil way of revolution, when we certainly did not follow all the rules of revolution that existed at that time(if there were any).

There is nothing courageous about deliberately butchering innocent, defenseless victims. Your repeated defense of terrorism is inexcusable, IMO, but if you cannot already distinguish between innocent victims and the evils of terrorism, I cannot help you see the light.

It should scare you, it should scare everyone. I believe this is the most important matter the US has to deal with and the candidates better start thinking about it now.
