The problem is that many think that simply playing "extra games" like AAU will make them better. Maybe. Maybe not. It has the likelihood to reinforce bad habits that you are are not working on. IMO the priority should be in skill development on your own with a coach and THEN try them in some games. Too many AAU games lead to too little time working by yourself or with a coach on YOUR individual game.

All of what you all have said in some way is right on the money. Now if we just had more hours and days in the year. I do think you have to play games and work on your own to get better. It takes some of both.

Right, my coach always said "everyday you don't work on your game is a day you get passed up, because you can bet someone is working one theirs. And more than likely that is the player or team you meet in the finals of a tournament".

I really like that- you have a very smart coach! You have to work on some part of your game every day if you want to put yourself and your team in a positon to be successful.
