Any big first-round upsets?

Featured Replies

Yes they have had a great year.

After throwing 184 pitches and striking out 17 against Christian County in the 8th District title game, I'm not sure Hageman was able to pitch today for Hoptown if he wanted to. Smithson had been a solid #2 for Hoptown.

Your kidding, right? A coach let his kid throw 184 pitches. Up in NKy, a coach would get hung for letting a kid throw that many pitches!

As criminal as it may be you see more and more of this when Region play rolls around, expecially for teams with only one or two reliable pitchers. This was the case in the Nicholas vs. Mason game in the 10th Region. Myneer (sp) from Nicholas threw about 175 pitches in 8 innings because he was throwing well, and I'm not sure how much faith they had in anyone else to keep Richie Cox in the ballpark.

I'd be interested to see some of Evan Bennet's pitch counts from games. I know he threw around 120 or so against Montgomery in an extra inning game and he threw all 9 innings of the district championship against Bourbon and they scored 4 or 5 runs with a lot of baserunners so it must have been up there.
