The game was called after nine innings due to the Florence Freedom's exhibition game with the Joliet JackHammers.

 

It was a very, very enjoyable game and hard fought by both teams.

Go check out the schedule that Ryle has played this year and if you can find a team that's played a tougher one, let us all know. I'm guessing that Male was reasonably impressed with the Ryle pitcher (Etschied) who threw 8 innings and held them to one earned run.

After watching 3-4 innings of the Male-Scott game and then the entire 9 innings of the Male-Ryle game, I must say I was very impressed with Male. They appear to be a very fundamentally sound team. The lefty they threw against Scott was very solid and the pitcher that threw against Ryle was very tough - perhaps the best breaking ball we've seen this year.

 

A very nice comeback for Ryle, who scored 3 times in the 6th to tie things up and had several opportunities to win the game, but never got the big timely hit.

An exihibition, a practice game. Did Flo. have a curfew on the lights, did the jackhammers have a mothers day game to get back to. A practice game, let'em finish

With the Freedom season scheduled to start in 11 days and seeing as to how they've got to see players play before they can make their roster cuts, I can totally understand why the game was called.

 

Now to this game. I too was impressed with how Male played the game....Coach Driskell's teams always play baseball the way it was meant to be.

 

As for Etscheid, he didn't impress me in the other game that I saw him pitch at Champion Window Field but he sure did today. If he can pitch like that in the post season and the Raiders can get that key timely hit like cooperstown mentioned they didn't get today late to take the lead, then they could be lethal in the post-season. I'm excited to see the Ryle/CovCath game at Champion Window on Friday.
