Conner lead 7-2 going into the 5th inning and I hate to put it on the umpires but 3 very VERY questionable calls cost the Cougars in this game. Its sad when these kids travel all the way down there and play their hearts out and get it taken away by an official

Tough loss for the Cougars. They hit the ball well but couldn't manage to score when Lex. Cath. brought their stud in to close it out. Junior Will Shuttleworth did a fine job on the mound holding the Knights to 2 runs through the fourth. Unfortunately with two outs in the 5th, the Knights rallied for 6 runs to seal the deal.

 

And although I wouldn't quite say the umps lost the game, they did make two awful calls that kept the 6 run inning alive for the Knights.

Thats not to mention when the Lex Cath coach comes out for a mound visit and the ump allows him to stay out there for a good 5 minutes while their stud gets loose to come into the game. Im like you Waterboy i hate blaming an umpire for a game but there were some things that went on that just didnt seem right. For example a close play at second where the runner actually slides into the Conner second baseman and the umpire says he never tagged the bag.

I know Conner has been playing well but if they played this well against this Lexington team then NKY definitely needs to be represented with more teams in the coaches state rankings. I guess more NKY coaches need to vote. Great job Conner!!!!!!!!!!!!!:ylsuper:
