Bardstown 52 Elizabethtown 50 - 5th Region Semis

Featured Replies

Corey Hall came up with a coast-to-coast game-winning layup after coming away from a loose-ball scrum. Chris Ulis put the Panthers up 50-46 with 1:12 to play, and Bardstown had struggled to find points out of the half-court set since opening the game with a 15-4 first quarter.

But Damian Edelen, who is more of a rebound/defense guy, came up with a stickback of a three miss, then after a Bardstown steal by Jordan Hickman, Edelen flashed to the bucket and took Hickman's assist for the tying layup.

Chris Gohman for E'town was unstoppable, pouring in 28 points as the Bardstown defense struggled to keep track of him working the baseline against the zone. Pretty balanced scoring all around for Bardstown, with Hall, Hickman and Phillips all in double figures.

Fun, fun game to watch, and a good follow-up to the exciting first game.

:dancingpaIt wasn't pretty, but it was a win! Congrats to Coach Goode and his staff! Way to hustle guys. Corey Hall's steal and winning lay-up was PRICE:banana:LESS! Good Luck at the Finals! GO TIGERS!!!

When is the last time Bardstown made a regional final? I know they haven't won the 5th since 1971.

We reached the finals in '81, against a 'loaded' North Hardin team & I'm pretty sure '88 as well.

Was James Brewer on that '88 team? I know Bardstown has had a recent run of success, but I don't recall them being a 5th Region power in some time.

Yes, I believe they were 'upset' by Tick Rogers and Hart County....

I was told 1981 was the Tigers' last appearance, a blowout loss to North Hardin (Robbie Valentine and Bret Burrow would've been on those teams, if I'm not mistaken).

Yes they were and it wasn't pretty. They were one of the most talented teams to never win it all.

Congratulations to Coach Goode and the players.

Bardstown has a great chance to make it to Rupp, but they will have to make better adjustments. I don't think it should have been as close as it was tonite. They let E-town dictate the game to them but they were still able to pull it off.

Bardstown got a good taste of what they will see tomorrow night, tonight. Much like Etown, Central Hardin will try to dictate the pace and play their 1-3-1 on the defensive end. From seeing them both, I think Central is a little better both offensively and defensively on the court, with Etown having the better "mind" on the sideline. Nothing against Coach Wright, he has definitely proven himself this season, but Haire has the ring, lol.

Interesting little tidbit...If Central Hardin wins it will mark the second consecutive year that the champion from the 5th will have players that had never played in a regional tournament game before that years tournament. So much for the old experience factor .

Should be a really good ballgame, with a matchup in different styles on display once again. I'll say CH 57 Bardstown 54 in a dandy!!!!

Congrats to Bardstown. With Adair Co being knocked out in the 5th region semis I look for Bardstown to represent the 5th at Rupp.
