Officiating was horrid! The trio of refs decided who was going to win the game before tip-off. Several bad calls in the 4th quarter decided the game. Those referees should be ashamed.

 

I am sure that you were an impartial observer?

Wouldn't there be three officials, not just Watkins?

If Watkins is an official you can bet that there are going to be some HORRID calls. :thumb: So many coach's have scratched him I don't see how he can be an official at any games. Just Amazing.

 

I don't see how you let him call a regional game, especially with the two he was teamed up with. Owen was making a huge run and the officiating crew made 5 devastating calls in the last minutes that were the crux of the game. Thank you 8th region officials!

Terrible officiating. It might have had a different outcome but 5 bad calls late in the game all went Shelby's way. Congrats to Owen on a good season. No one thought they would be as good as they were. Good luck to Shelby,

I did not mean that to come across as negatively as you evidently took it. I am sure that had my team made it to the regional tournament (we did not - unlikey in District Oldham Co) and my team lost to a larger school by only three points that my emotions would be on overdrive and I might not be viewing the game/calls in the same light as someone that had little stake in the game.

 

As far as negative posts on Owen, the only posts I remember commenting on were in a positive fashion toward Shelton, but I will go back and look them up when I get a chance.

Will Shelby Co. have a tougher Road to Rupp than I may have thought? Who else looks strong in this region?

The lower bracket (tonight) is loaded. North Oldham is probably playing the best right now. Anderson County has only lost 1 regional game this year and Gallatin County has had a great season as well. The Anderson/Gallatin game tonight will be another barnburner, IMO. Not to take anything away from Walton, but the Bearcats will have their hands full with the Mustangs.

I know what you mean, I think the refs are after my team also, when we are playing. Sometimes they are!:fire:

 

I think the 8th region needs to trade refs for the tourneys..there is too much history and the refs anticipate fouls before they even happen.:argue:

Congrats to Owen County on a fine season. Shelby just had too much talent for the Rebels to overcome.

 

After watching this game I wouldn't really say that Shelby's talent was that much more superior than Owen's. Both teams had great basketball players that seemed to be equally matched to provide one heck of a ball game. Congrats to both teams and best of luck to OC next year. It should be just as, if not more, exciting than what was witnessed this year.
