Beechwood 75 Newport 61

Beechwood finishes their season with a victory over the inconsistent Wildcats. I dont know what is going on with Newport, they have some tremendous athletes. Its ashame but Beechwood's season will be over in the next few days as they meet the Bulldogs from Holmes.

Curious if the Red and White Tigers press and/or play zone defense.

That's the only conceivable answer that I can come up with. Brossart played 100% man, and only when we pressed full-court and uptempoed them did we experience any success. Pendleton County packed it in and played zone.

So I would suspect that the key to beating the Wildcats is to press and drop back into a zone.

Any confirmation?

Congrats to Coach Schumate and his Tigers on a fantastic season!

Goes to show it CAN be done at a "football" school!

Newport does to seem like a up and down team. But them boys can play and if they can really have a good game Wed. night, they may just win them a District Championship!! Good Luck to all the teams!!
