Offensive explosion in WBGL this evening.

 

With the game tied at 35-35...Boyd worked for last shot...Morgan County tried in vain, tooth, blood, and nail to foul and hacked the daylights out of the dribbler. Whistle would not be blown...I don't know what else a player has to do to foul....a bump is foul, a hand check is a foul, all of that occurs in 31:54 of the game, but during the last 6 seconds you can drill someone, slap them (with what could be intentional foul) and it not be called. Unreal....then at 0:00 Boyd shoots a three and official called a foul on Morgan....and that was the right call, although Morgan Co. fans were livid....but the majority were really irritated at the young official who would not call the fould when Morgan County had only 5 team fouls...that is where in a 3 man crew, those things you would think would be known and official who is thinking ahead understands the game and what teams may or may not try to do.

 

Boyd's kid hit 2nd free throw and ball game was over. Once again, he was clearly fouled and that was the right call...but to witness all the touch fouls called in this region and to watch someone beat the daylights out of them trying to foul and it go negated is beyond disbelief.

That's a very good guess. But wouldn't you all agree this is very low for high school varsity for 2 teams to be this low.

I was wondering if Morgan was going to get to 35 points. Boyd and Morgan are not really offensive gifted as a few other teams in the region, but really, both school's are very fundamental defensively and can guard you. I've seen some Boyd County teams of old and some Morgan County teams just a few years back that would absolutley lock you down man to man in the half-court and teams would struggle to get a shot off. The 16th is a more defensive minded region and at the same token, offensively, are patient. But one last point, if you don't have 5 horses who can score at will, that will also lower the scoring totals. Both teams struggled to score tonight unless it was at point blank range.

 

I can remember a halftime score of like 6-5 between Morgan Co. and Boyd Co. back in the mid 1980's...in the regional tournament. Now that is low.

If the basketball does not fall through the round orange rim and make the little fuzzy net thingy move, you dont get points.....right????

I don't mean this as a slight to the 16th region, because it's one of only two regions I really follow in this state.

If you were to just give me that score, 36-35, tell me it was a boys varsity basketball score and don't tell me ANYTHING else. I'm going to guess it's a 16th region score. :lol:
