Close the whole game, with Mason leading 22-20 at half-time, but started pulling away at the end of the 3rd quarter, and Paris couldn't catch up. Too many turnovers and missed opportunities for Paris.

Mason shoots 40.1% from the field, 13-19 from the line. Paris was 25.5% from the field, and 13-22 from the line.

 

Mason got 40 rebounds to Paris' 39. Only 1 assist for Paris, with 17 turnovers.

Good win for the Lady Royals. They are playing very good basketball right now.

Mason County goes on the road and spoils senior night for the Lady Hounds and beats a very good Paris team handily to pick up their 20th win of the season. Very few teams score 60 points on Paris and that is a credit to the Lady Hounds, they do a very good job of making you play their game and are a very good defensive team. Something that doesn't get talked about is Mason County over the past couple of games and the defense they have played. Score was 22-20 Mason to start the 3rd quarter and the Lady Royals held Paris to 5 points in the 3rd quarter and 21 for the second half. Masons on the ball defense has been the best ever the past couple of games. Forced Paris to shoot 25% from the field for the game, some pretty good defense on a very quick team who can play the D as well. Mason was able to score 60 and their offense came from their defense. Come to find out, we've got a correction on the Kasey Litzinger milestone. We, along with the official recordkeeper, have gone back to total up her six (!) years of points, and she is now recorded to be 2 points out of 5th place. She has 1526 career points and will have her next opportunity to officially move into that spot against Augusta on the 25th.

Mason did play a great second half, and I will credit their defense for forced turnovers, but as for Paris' shooting percentage, they were getting alot of good looks from both the outside and driving inside. They just couldnt get the shots to fall which has been a problem for this team all season long.

Paris cut the lead to 10 early in the fourth and had the ball but after another turnover it looked as if the Ladyhounds gave up. They slacked off on defense and just kept fouling sending Mason to the freethrow line.

Congrats to Mason though on a nice win on the road.

Hopefully Paris can bounce back from this and get a win Friday before heading into district play.
