Long drive back from Mt. Olivet and a quick stop for some late night chow.

 

Luke King did not play, BUT Deming got a nice pick-me-up from Nathan Mitchell, a 6'1" Junior, who put up 13 points in his stead. Sometimes adversity (Luke's bad ankle) leads to some long range learnings. The Devils are more than just the Kings. Jarrod White only had three points tonight, but is a deadly downtown shooter. Mitchell acquitted himself well and Grause has matured as a post player. Brossart's overall defense limited Deming's good looks tonight and paved the way for the Mustangs sizeable win.

 

Brossart pretty much led from the onset. 16-10 after the first period and 32-21 at the half. The Mustangs long-bombed the Devils, putting up five 3-bangers in the first half, two by Patterson and three by Webb. A 24 point third quarter sealed the deal as the Mustangs ran out to a 56-36 advantage and played even 9-9 ball in the final quarter to post the 65-45 win.

 

Jacob Rieger had a big night in the paint and led the Mustangs with 23. Joey Webb ended up with 15 and Mitch Patterson and Drew Kremer each threw in 9. Kyle King led the Devils with 17, Nathan Mitchell scored 13 and Garth Grause 8.

 

Totals BB: 17-7-10/12-65 15-11

Totals Deming: l17-1- 8/10-45 11-11

As for the bold alot of people need to realize that this is true. While the Kings are good ball players they are only 2 kids and 2 vs 5 won't win you many games. I have seen many games where different kids step up, Mitchell sticking out in my mind mainly. Goodluck to the Devils the rest of the way.
