Phelps is 10-8 and 7-7 vs 15th competition. What a shocker! This may be a good wake up call for the Hawks!

The first game Phelps and Pike Central played was a good one also.The final score does not reflect the type of game the first game of the season really was.Phelps has a very good team but no depth and very young players off the bench.They can be a dangerous team in the tournament as these young ladies know the game and play good together as long as they stay out of foul trouble.Last night they had 2 starters foul out and one starter sat out much of the game in foul trouble for much of the game.Phelps is one of the smallest schools left and it is quite difficult to have a team.To win this one was a big game for Phelps.

Being a Mister Basketball in Kentucky and winning the sweet 16 is some great credentials.But I dont mean to keep saying this but this is a good team with a good coach.I have a deep respect for Pike Central players but Phelps never gets looked at or talked about in any manner of respect.The Johnson girl and the Riley girl are AAU standouts.They both have played a lot of ball and are as good as any I have seen.Both have played in Ky. and Va. state tournaments in AAU and are just 2 of the best kids you could imagine and simply do not want to be anything but TEAM PLAYERS and this is the greatest fault with these 2 ladies in that they pass up shots trying to be unselfish to a fault. Also The Keen girl and Jasmine Hall are just all around super players.The other 2 ladies who get the bulk of the load of play/work are also coming along to be tough as you will find.Thier names are Wolford and McGuire and one is a Sophmore and one is a Junior so they will be back next year along with Riley and Jasmine Hall.
