GatorFan Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 WOW! Final per KHSAA scoreboard! :scared:
crazy8s Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 South Oldham defense was smothering - Williams didn't score a field goal until 3 minutes left in the game which was surprising. She is a very nice player though- picked up two fouls pretty early which didn't help either. Conniff, the 6'2 center from South, had a good game defensively and some nice offensive moves against Williams. Guard play for South was good- Jones, Byrd, and McGuffin all played extremely well. South Oldham's size was key - they were taller at every position and Owen's guards had a hard time.
True blue (and gold) Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 I have not seen Owen play, but I have a hard time believing that SO is 39 points better.
Lunatic1 Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Wow.. I believe Owen had a bad night, maybe that were having one of those moments that seems to be happening to many of the girls teams this time of year. I have seen them play and they must have had an off night. Was anyone missing for Owen?
creole Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 That score is a shocker. I don't know if Owen was at full strength or not. But I took a look at South Oldham on the scoreboard and they have plastered a few other teams this year. Could be a great night colliding with a really off night.
crazy8s Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Owen was at full strenth- all players were there. It was a very good defensive night for South Oldham and I would have to say that Owen had a poor night offensively due to the defense that was played on them. I don't think that Owen came ready to play- they seemed lethargic during warmups and South came ready to play and jumped on them quickly- they could never recover.
crazy8s Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 I would have to add that South Oldham has not played as well or as consistently since the Highlands game which was a 25 point win over a very good team which has beaten so excellent teams of late. Last nights game was alot like the Highlands win- with all engines firing both offensively and defensively- they were very sharp playing as a team which has been a big struggle for them this year. They look to now be on the same page and working together.
Lunatic1 Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Nothing against SO because I think they are one of the top teams in our region, I just have seen Owen play a lot and have never seen them only score 15. Of course, in girls basketball you never know, we use the 3 point shot so much that if you do not have a friendly basket you might have that kind of night. We have nights that we could win by 20 or lose by 20 depending on our shooting. Jones is one of the best players in our region and I do not look forward to playing SO this year. Congrats SO and I can not wait to see you play.
Mr. Athletics Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 South is real good but Owen played poorly as well. Owen couldn't even get shots, let alone make them. Bad night for the Lady Rebels.
*Jeanie* Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Wow. What a shock. Owen County better step up, and not fall off the charts at the end of the season!
