Boonecofan Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 If school is out due to bad weather but, clears up and everything is back to normal do they still play the basketball games that night?
thewaterboy Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Most policies state no school no play, these policies can completely ruin a tournament that is attempting to be played during cold weather! Most schools that host tournaments try to get it written in a contract that they will come if weather permits no matter if school is on or not.

I also know many schools that will play if the weather clears up and the roads are ok. But to answer the question, it varies and is up to each individual school district.
thewaterboy Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 When saying "most" I was referring to policies not schools. Whats the point of having the policy if you are not going to follow it? This is a major problem with school policies in general.....
Mr. Athletics Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Having a school policy on this topic is not good. Athletic administrators along with principals need to make this call erring on the side of safety for all involved. Keep the coaches out of it. Some may want to play if their team is on a roll; some may not want to play if they have a kid sick or injured. I know some coaches who are having bad years really have a hard time finding a make up date if their opponent is pretty good. Sad to say but very true.

I think it should be the call of the superintendent in the district....that's who the principal is going to call anyway.
