PL Dunbar 91 Franklin County 77

Featured Replies

Final.

Flyers started out down 13-0 looked like a deer in the headlights, after a sub or two they played neck and neck with the Bulldogs but never could get a lead or bring themselves out of the hole.

Dunbar seems to be doing a little better than I expected this year. Any chance they could pull an upset or two come tourney time?

If Dunbar shoots as well from 3-point as they do last night, they can compete. Especially if you let them jump ahead. It was a 3-pt game in the 2nd half, but FCHS did not seal the deal with the comeback, and took some poor shots, and made a turnover or two. Dunbar is still going to struggle against Lex. Cath., Scott County and others because these teams are longer at almost every position. If you get in a situation where you have to chase Dunbar around the floor, then they can beat you because they pass well and feed Rogers for probably 6 to 8 uncontested layups or dunks.

Dunbar jumped out to a 13 to 0 lead first quarter. They have the most team speed that I have seen on the floor in Ky this season. FC battled back and kept it around 10 points most of the game. I think FC cut it to 7 points twice in the 3rd quarter. In the 4th the lead was cut to 5 points with about 2:30 to go. I recall at that time FC having three straight empty trips on the offensive end due to poor execution resulting in three straight productive trips for Dunbar (two 2s and a three). At that point FC fouled several times sending Dunbar to the line.

Don't know shooting percentages but my guess is Dunbar shot very well from the field and the free throw line. They hit 8 three pointers. Dunbar's coaching staff have their guys playing very good team ball. FC could not match Dunbar's team speed.

FC battled with a valient effort but could not get the job done. The young Flyers will learn and improve by playing this type competition. They have Shelby County and Holmes next week.

With regard to Dunbar, this team is for real. I have watched quite a few high school basketball games this season including many of the top rated teams, and Dunbar is by far the fastest team I've seen with a plethora of quality ball handlers and scorers (I have not seen Bryan Station play but am familiar with their personel). As 6"7" Tyler Rogers gains confidence this team will become even more dangerous. He has very long arms.

Dunbar is 13-2 with their only losses to Lex Cath and Bryan Station. What I have been told is that they had Station on the ropes but did not hold on down the stretch.

Good luck to Dunbar the remainder of the season.

Good win for Coach Redd and the Dawgs.

Dunbars a good team, look for them to make some noise come tournament time, they have two of the better guards in the state with hudson and johnson

They have a nice complimentary team. I enjoy watching them play.
