I see the West Jessamine posted to the KHSAA.

 

What is this program like? I see it has been horrible and they are in a tough district with Lex Cath and Boyle County. Any info?

I hate this for those kids. This is like the 5th time it's been open in 4 years.

This opening has actually existed for a while, since West had an interim coach for half or more of this season. Jody Hamilton, the baseball coach, took over to finish out the season and help them out of a jam, but he was never expected to keep the job.

 

It hasn't been that long since the Colts were a pretty good team. 2002 was their last good year, when they beat a Boyle team that was on its way to its fourth straight title. That was their last winning season, followed by a couple of mediocre years before the bottom fell out. They've made some bad coaching hires, but I think the right man could turn things around if given a few years. The first step would be getting kids interested in the program again, as their numbers have dropped drastically. Their roster size dipped into the low 20s this season.

How long has Jody Hamilton been at the school, coming down from Boyd county?

Why did the last coach leave halfway through the season?

Wayne Stevens resigned three games in, essentially saying in a newspaper article at the time that he was overworked. Hamilton (sorry, kypride, but I don't know how long he's been at West) was named interim coach because all of the assistants on the staff were very young. Stevens stayed on as an assistant coach, but not for long.
