Whats your guys thoughts on this game Tuesday night at Whitley..

Whitley is playing hard for Coach Baker. I do not think you will see the old "Wilt-ey County" of the past few seasons. They will compete and if South can only get 57 points on Harlan then it might be time for an upset. Coach Baker seems to have winning on the menu for the Colonels this season. I really like his hard nosed style of basketball. The Colonels will not back down and will play til the final buzzer. Coach Baker knows what it takes to win and in time he will have the Red Storm in the winner's circle.

I agree Whitley will be a different team then they have been in the past, I just don't think they are the team that will break Souths record over 13th region teams. I think coach Wright will get number 500 against Whitley.

Whitley is a much improved version of last years team. They play had and can score, but to call for the upset may be a bit premature. Sure had some calls gone their way in the Corbin game it may have been different but still they would not have won, but the game may have unfolded differently.

 

I don't know that Whitley has anyone to match up with Matt St. John, although anyone in the game for Whitley is going to come at you at full speed defensively.

 

South Laurel wins but it will be a better game than in years past.

Whitley plays hard, but they do a lot of grabbing and reaching on defense. With Steve Wright on the sideline, this will probably lead to foul trouble against South Laurel. If Whitley can get a very loosely called game at home and keep Lebanion on the floor, they have a shot at beating the Cards.

I thought Coach P showed some class by going deep into the bench with nearly 4 minutes to play while up by 30. At the same time, Whitley kept most of their starters in until about a 1 minute to go. This is why the score ended up being only an 18 point game.

Should be a close game, but I disagree with Bubba in one aspect.

Scoring 57 points at Harlan after playing a physical Garrard County the night before could have been a reason South scored 57. Along with the long road trip.

I think this is a good measuring stick for the Colonels at this point in the season. Last year the Colonels were a much better team at home and this is their first home game. They do tend to be pyshical and at home like a young team they just appear to be more comfortable at Home.

 

South wins this game but I expect a excellant effort, Coach Baker has them playing like a team that believes in themselves, and that is half the battle.

Does anyone know if this game will be broadcast on any radio stations and if so what station is carrying it?
