BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --A select media panel voted Billy Gillispie's first Kentucky team to finish second in the Southeastern Conference's Eastern Division, the league announced yesterday.

It was the second straight year that the media voted UK second.

Tennessee replaced Florida as the overwhelming choice to win the Eastern Division. The Vols received all 30 first-place votes to become the first unanimous choice to win a division since Auburn in 1999-2000.

The media picked two-time defending national champion Florida to finish third in the Eastern Division, followed by Vanderbilt, Georgia and South Carolina.

Kentuckian Chris Lofton of Tennessee received 27 of 30 votes for Player of the Year.

You telling me Crawford, Bradley and Meeks Couldnt have made 2nd Team? Thats crazy!

Provided the Wildcats are healthy, I pick them to win the SEC East.

I know Kentucky has struggled or been inconsistent the last few years and everyone is waiting to see how well the new coach and the recruiting class come together, BUT I don't see them finishing 2nd to UT. I'm not really a fan of either school, can't wait to see how it all plays out.

So what place do you see them?

I think Kentucky can finish 1st, if they can avoid injuries and this class comes together with the guys returning. No, I'm not a blind UK fan, but I do know this team has some talent on the floor and we all know what the new coach can do.

I think UT finishes 2nd or maybe even 3rd. I don't know who they have coming in, but if they aren't shooting well from the field, they can lose to anyone. I think that will cost them in the long run yet again.

I'm a huge fan of Lofton and I would love to see him make another trip to the Sweet 16 and maybe even further, but unless they have some consistent scoring in the paint, they likely won't go very far.

This Tennesse team is A lot different from last years, they can compete down low now, with Smith in the mix.

Smith got one of the 3 POY votes that Lofton did not receive.

Duke Crews is suspended indefinitely. I know this won't help the Vols chances.
