Just seven days removed from an abysmal first quarter performance at West Virginia that was deemed a ‘death sentence’ by their head coach, Mississippi State will look to knock off another highly-ranked opponent today when the Bulldogs line up against No. 14 Kentucky. And just like last week, today’s opponent has been known to put some points on the board. Kentucky quarterback Andre' Woodson has quite a bit of talent (understatement?), so one of the best ways State can hope to interrupt him is to get back to its sacking ways. Give Woodson time, and it'll be a long flight back. NO. 2 WIN THE TIME BATTLE Wesley Carroll may have said it best Monday when he said the best place for State's defense to be is on the sidelines. Not that the Bulldogs' defense is bad, but the best defense against this bunch of Wildcats might be a good offense. If State can get long drives - and score touchdowns, not field goals at the end - it will bode well. NO. 3 COVER LYONS A year ago in this game, Dicky Lyons Jr. talked smack and backed it up. All the while, there will be plenty of horses racing across town at the University of Kentucky's Commonwealth Stadium. After all, the Wildcats' offense this season has turned the tame cats of the past into thoroughbreds, and they have the results to prove it. As Mississippi State (4-4, 1-3 SEC) enters the home stretch of its season today looking for those precious two wins to become bowl-eligible, it does so having to face a stable of offensive players, led by quarterback Andre Woodson, unlike most that it has seen all season. "The thing that they've done this year, regardless of the game situation, is they've found a way to win," MSU coach Sylvester Croom said. "And that says a lot about their staff and their players."
