He talked to the recruiter about attending a 6 week course for the next 2 summer's. The recruiter told him it is very hard and that they try to break a person down to make them quit. Not sure where location is.

That sounds like Quantico...Parris Island has no such animal. It's 13 weeks, or for some unfortunate souls a little longer. The reason they have to stay longer is if they can't make the physical standards, or they get injured. Or some just fail a portion of boot camp like the Rifle range and they get bumped back a few weeks. I believe the program you are talking about is the College ROTC program. I'm pretty sure they will have to complete their training at Quantico Virginia. Anyway, I wish him nothing but the best. If I can help in any way, just let me know!
