Mayfield/Christian County Scrimmage

Mayfield struggled early...especially in the early going with the line play...that will be the achilles heal for the Cards this year...not a knock on the kids that play...they play hard...but just young in some spots...I think that Coach Morris said it best this morning on the coaches show that we just need to get more consistent and we will be fine. He was really impressed with Jarrod Noonan (#25) in the scrimmage. Very hard nose runner...just have to get him some stick-em to put on his hands. Mayfield has the skill positions at RB, WR, and TE to make them extremely dangerous if they can put things together by mid-season. Armstrong at QB looked to rush some things, but he will be okay once he gets more reps in during the season.

Defensively the Cards have to work on their tackling...they swarm to the ball great...just don't always use the best technique in tackling...too many arm tackles late in the scrimmage...iI know they were tired, but they have to not take plays off. I don't think teams will be able to drive on us for a whole field...but we have to eliminate the big plays.

But the best thing is that it is early and this Cards team should be one the most interesting teams to watch as the season progresses...Coach Morris said this morning that this team will be able to use their speed to their advantage and should be able to create mismatches with all the people that they can put on the field that can take it the distance on any given play.

I too was greatly impressed with the crowd for the scrimmage at Mayfield...should have a heck of a crowd at the game Friday night.

GO CARDS!!!
