Talked to Coach Deaton last night.....

Featured Replies

He had a pretty funny story that also showed his intensity.... The other day practice wasnt going as planned. Coach Deaton saw the need for some intensity, so he joined in on practice in 1 on 1. D line versuses O line. After going against the kids a couple of times he decided that grass drills were in order to let the kids know that it was time to get some work done. Coach also participated in grass drills. While participating in grass drills Deaton's head met a players heel on the way to the ground, leading to a gash in his forehead!! The trainer told Zach that stitch's were need. To that Zach replied, not until practice is over. He then held gauze to his forehead the remainder of the practice, while still being as intense and involved as at the beginning! After practice, Coach was taking the team to Golden Corral for lunch. After sending the assistant coaches with the team Zach went to the hospital for stitch's. At the hospital he asked the lady how long it was going to take cause he needed to meet his team for lunch ASAP, and if it was gonig to take to long he would come back after lunch. The nurse saw the importance of this to Zach and had him in and out in time to go to Golden Corral. And of course to top it all off it was picture day after lunch!!

Just goes to show how good of a coach dayton has. He'll continue what Coach Lickert started, and maybe even add a little more!!

That is some exciting news. A good coach in Dayton who can win the kids back to the program will be very successful. The Dayton kids are fun and are tough. Football has to become important again. Zach a bit of advice......get in touch with Coach Mariani he still lives in Dayton. He was the very best I've ever seen motivate the kid from Dayton. If you want to get fired up and talk some good football, offer to take him to lunch. Don't ask him to go golfing. What a wonderful man. What an influential person. He still gives me the competitive goose bumps everytime I talk to him. Go Greendevils
