I suspect it's because the "other" camp is even further from their own views. Face it. Most often in American, to get elected you have to be either Democrat or Republican. That doesn't mean you're lock-step with the "Party Line".

I agree that a viable third party that is not sold out to PACs or other lobbying groups would be a welcome change. I don't see it in the foreseeable future, however.

Although he is not running this time, I would vote for Joe Lieberman. I disagree with him on many things, but I think he has the political courage that many politicians (Republicans or Democrats) do not have. I feel as though I could trust him...
