Does anyone know of any offers he may have or where he may be going?

I heard he WANTED to go to EKU but I don't see that. I know Alice Lloyd will take him. He might think he's to good for that I don't know.

Why don't you see that? He has as good of a chance as the next kid, besides being one of the best in the eastern part of the state.

No way Hicks could play at Eastern. He's not big enough, not quick enough, not a good enough passer and can't shoot well enough. Bottom line, he's not a Division I player. I think Alice Lloyd would be a good place for him.

I agree with the not big enough and not quick enough part of the statement above, but not a good enough shooter? Give me a break, this kid can shoot the lights out! Alice Lloyd could use a great shooter like this, but who wouldn't! Great shooters are hard to find. Good luck to Justin where ever he ends up.

How would he get a shot off at the D-I level? If he isn't big enough or quick enough, how will he shoot? And from what I have seen of Hicks, and I've seen numerous Hazard games over the last couple of seasons, he's not THAT GOOD of a shooter. He would be a solid contributor at Alice Lloyd and I would wish him the best. But any level above that in Kentucky would be too much for the young man.

What on earth do you call a good shooter? by your definition of this kid not being a good shooter I'm sure no one would qualify!

Maybe I should say I thought he was streaky. Streaky, when you are slow and short, doesn't work well at the D-I level. I just don't think he could play at Eastern or Georgetown or Cumberland. Don't be offended; much like you thinking Hicks is a good shooter and can play at a high level, I don't hold that same view. That's just an opinion.

Hicks best quality is he always made big plays when the game was on the line. I think he is an very good shooter and decent ballhandler. I even think he is fairly quick. But he is about five inches short of any chance at even the lower levels of D1. Even at the NAIA level he will have to shoot deep or off of screens.

He WILL NOT be able to play at D-1. His best quality is his shooting ability & I think he could go in & contribute to Alice Lloyd right off the bat!

I think these are his year end stats: high score 36, field goal % 51, free throw% 85, assists 4, rebounds 4, and steals 2. I think that puts his stats up there among the top 10-20 players in the state. He averaged 3.6 3 pointers per game and he played with more heart than most, not to mention his knowledge of the game and floor leadership. Hazard wouldn't have beat Madison Central or Lafayette without him. His height is his disadvantage. As far as Alice Lloyd he won't play there, but you may see him at Pikeville or Trans next year.

I also forgot to mention his shooting range. Most of his 3's are made from around 30 ft give or take a couple of inches. He is very accurate from deep.

I wanted to believe your previous post, but 30 feet? C'mon. He might have made a couple from that range this year, but not "most of his 3's." Also, he shot 34% from three-point range according to the KHSAA. That's okay for a high schooler, but certainly not "accurate from deep."

The 34% came from deep. I didn't say Hicks was a D1 player but the kid can play and shoot despite his height. I am trying to give him a little credit for his hard work in high school and I am sure a small college will be glad to have him. He was poy in the 14th for 2 cons. yrs. and the leading all time scorer for the wymt tournament that spans over 20 yrs. which included players like Richie Farmer. That is not too shabby for a small eastern ky. guard.

I think he is a good player. He could get his shot off at the D1 level I just don't believe he could be able to defend at that level. If he was patient on offense and used screens to free himself up he does have a quick release. And a lot of his 3's did come from 23 to 24 ft. So he has range. Seems to be a good kid and a hard worker, so someone will be fortunate enough to get him
