Wow Mason Co. 9 times doesnt seem like it... Nice stats though:devil:

7 of those 9 came during the Lofton era. Doesn't diminish the accomplishments of the other teams that made it to Rupp. But those two years were something special, as if anyone on here needs to be reminded of that. lol

Can you say Chris !!??

Here's an exercise in elementary statistics which proves nothing (I just like messing with numbers). Let's call it "Past Decade Sweet 16 Win Efficiency as a Function of School Enrollment". A lower "students per win" figure equates to greater winning efficiency.

Scott County - 15 wins, 1840 enrollment, 123 students per win

Ballard - 11 wins, 1675 enrollment, 152 students per win

Warren Central - 11 wins, 1132 students, 103 students per win

Mason County - 9 wins, 798 students, 89 students per win

Lexington Catholic - 9 wins, 862 students, 96 students per win

Pleasure Ridge Park - 7 wins, 1931 students, 276 students per win

South Laurel - 7 wins, 1290 students, 184 students per win

Male - 6 wins, 1656 students, 276 students per win

Paducah Tilghman - 5 wins, 776 students, 155 students per win

Elizabethtown - 5 wins, 725 students, 145 students per win

How has medium sized E'town, Tilghman, Lex Cath, and Mason Co outdone all those huge schools over 1700 kids. Maybe size isn't the most important factor. Nice point Mcpapa.

However, I think to be mathmatically correct you would need to go back and see what the student body size was when each of the S16 wins occurred. For example Lex Cath and Scott Co were hundreds of students smaller in the late 90s when many of the wins occurred.

I agree with both points.

The first being that a school doesn't have to be huge in order to be very successful in basketball. While none of the schools on the list are "small schools", some are obviously much smaller than others.

The second being that school size AT THE TIME the wins were compiled would be more accurate - however, I only have the most recent two-year enrollment figures at my immediate disposal, per the KHSAA website.
