What has every parents dream got to do with anything? The whole thing we are talking about is that percieved difference in the level of talent between the 2 divisions, and the fact that most of the players on the teams that are beating or playing competetively with some of the state D1 schools were not deamed as being able to play at the D1 level by the very same coaches of teams that they are beating or being competetive with AND, the quote that you made of saying that they should be able to compete with all of the advantages that a $1,000 scholarship brings. Got news for you pal, if your not a pitcher, $1,000 may just be around the average that a position player gets to play at the D1 level as well. A bunch of very good players get nothing more than just the chance to be part of that team. I can name you one former Kentucky Mr. Baseball that gets about $500 a year to get to play in the SEC. This, I have first hand knowlegde of, and know exactly what I am talking about.

 

I live this as well. Loans such as Stafford Loans are not free , they have to be PAID back. No difference than borrowing it from the bank other than a deferred time of payback and mabe a less rate of interest. It still comes out of your pocket. The average working man's income does not qualify for financial aid, and you receive the grand total of "ZERO $$$" of help from the government. KEES's money tops is about $2,000 a year. When it's all said and done, the cost is still more than going to a state school with no financial help at all from that state school. A $10,000 yearly presidential scholarship at Georgetown , means that you still are almost $20,000 a year out of pocket. This, I live and know exactly what I am talking about as well.

 

Your right, I can see where NAIA schools have that huge advantage when it comes to recruiting players to compete at a ("quote/unquote" D1 level).

 

Perhaps the guys at Cumberland, Campbellsville, and Georgetown may just have a better,or just as good of an idea of going about things with more of the odds stacked against them than they are in their favors. How about we put a little credit directed towards them?

 

I do want to thank you on one compliment however, with your assessment in your initial post of the Cumberland program as being awesome. Thanks, very proud of that.

I hope that my earlier posts haven't been misconstrued. Of course I undrstand that NAIA teams can beat D-1 teams. Anything can happen in baseball. I was definitely not bashing NAIA baseball; I played in the NAIA. My points were that it can't help Eastern's baseball image to lose to NAIA schools, and I simply haven't been a fan of certain pieces of EKU's coaching staff...

 

NAIA coaches do outstanding jobs for the most part, and there is D-1 talent everywhere in the NAIA ranks.
