Technically Hakeem never played college basketball but Akeem Olajuwon (as he was known back then) never won an NCAA titel either. Houston was runner up in back to back years. First failing in famous fashion to a Dereck Whittenburg airball which graciously fell into the waiting arms of Lorenzo Charles, and secondly falling to Patrick Ewing and the Hoyas.
