Cumberland 52 Harlan 43

Featured Replies

It's part of a massive conspiracy.

Or maybe it's alphabetical order.

Girls rotation

Bell County (starting last year)

Cawood

Cumberland

Evarts

Harlan

Boys rotation

Cawood (starting last year)

Cumberland

Evarts

Harlan

Bell County

At risk of life and limb, I'll ask another question, just so I can understand. So all the boy's games were/are being played at Cumberland? And all the girl's games were/are being played at Cawood?

All girls games were played at Cawood.

The boys went like this.

1st round @ Cawood

Harlan vs Evarts

Cawood vs M'boro

2nd round

Cumberland vs Harlan (@ Cumberland)

Bell vs M'boro (@ Cawood)

Finals

Cumberland vs Bell (@ Cumberland)

Had Cawood beat M'boro in the 1st round, they would have played bell at Cumberland. It was quite confusing........and i'm not sure why it was done this way or who made the decision to do this.

Well, see, I thought that some boy's games were played at Cawood. Thats the part that bothers me, and quite frankly, I've been playing dumber than usual, just to see what folks thought. To me, this gave both Cawood boys and Cumberland boys a home court advantage and that just ain't right, unless there is something I'm missing. So HDE, I guess you were right and it was all part of a conspiracy. If not, it sure makes you wonder. Somebody please tell me it ain't so!

This was voted on by all the principals at the District Meeting. It was done so there would be more seating and more money for Cumberland. Cumberland has handled everything from concessions to clockkeepers.

Cumberland is the host of the "Boys 52nd"

Cawood lost in the first round, so that is a mute point and from what i understand, the coach from M'boro had to agree to play this game at Cawood. I suppose it was done in order to accomodate the size of the crowd, parking, etc. I don't necessarily agree with it, but who am i. To me a split session is a split session no matter where or how you split it........

I don't want to make a big deal about it, but just seems a little fishy

Hey, it was just a question. I told you I'm a football freak. I'm going to have to change my name to Neutralpappy

I was only trying to be funny with the first line. I hate those smiley faces.

If you remember the 70s, and I'm sure you do, the district tournament was held at Cawood every year, except for when it was Harlan's turn (1975) — more seats, more parking, more money for the host school.

Makes sense I guess in that way. I do remember that now that you mention it. Lord, I'm gettin' old.

I'm glad someone is older than me.

It's always been a rotation. They just split them up into separate tournaments last year because we're in the only six-team district in the entire state, which is what we all should be complaining about.
