Fastpitch practices

Any other teams have to wait until basketball is completely over to start on softball? Our softball coaches are also the basketball coaches and makes for a late start with softball tryouts and practices. Just wondering.

All schools have to wait until basketball is over before they can have official practices if I'm not mistaken.

I believe most schools started practice on Feb. 15 . This is the official day to begin . There are not any rules having to wait for basketball to be over . The basketball players are allowed to try out after that season is over but most schools know who the players are usually .

Not true. Feb 15 is the date they can start.

You may be thinking of the rule re: spring football.

I know Holmes has been practicing since the end of last season.

They play in a khsaa sanctioned summer league and fall league, work out during the winter then are on the field feb 15th.

Holmes has NOT been practicing with the HS staff since the end of last season as that would be a violation of KHSAA rules. They could coach them during the summer but not once school started until February 15.

If the HS coaching staff has been practicing with them since school started and before Feb 15, they will be in violation.

Now a parent or someone NOT associated with the HS staff (including volunteers) can take them and practice with them.

I am sure the last paragraph is what you meant and you may want to alter your post.:thumb:

I never said they practiced with a coach. It's usually a parent volunteer who will come after school and basically stand around in the weight room while they work out then during the dead period in the summer the girls will have fun practices where they basically scrimmage once or twice.
