Since all KY teams are playing for a chance to go to the Sweet Sixteen...

Since all KY basketball teams are playing for a chance to go to the Sweet Sixteen...

Why don't they all play under the same set of rules come tournament time???

Isn't it time that the KHSAA:

#1 Mandate seeding in ALL districts?

#2 Mandate officials from outside "home" region?

In football, all teams are seeded for the playoffs and the KHSAA assigns officials for ALL football playoff games.

Why can't the playing field be leveled in basketball as well???

Are you kidding? Enrollment 345 versus enrollment 2400 is "level?" Just making the rules the same doesn't "level the playing field."

Maybe I wasn't clear in my question.

This is not an enrollment argument on my part.

The enrollment issue is a whole other can of worms.

The level playing field I am referring to is that teams from different areas of the state can get to or not get to the state tournament based on a different set of rules determined by region or even district.

The districts have chosen that route. The exact schools that are the ones that will or will not go to regions are the ones that choose the route based upon a democrative vote.

It seems that you have a mistaken notion of the KHSAA. It is not a group of people in Lex setting the rules. The same schools that set how the districts are going to be set up around the state ARE THE SAME PEOPLE that determine if the "KHSAA" is going to make it the same throughout the state. If it is such a problem, it is the responsibility of ANY SCHOOL IN THE STATE to propose this solution at the delegate assembly come every October.

I do not recall any proposal like that occurring within recent memory. Please someone correct me, if the proposal has been made and defeated.

Actually, I am perfectly aware of how the KHSAA operates.

I guess my question is why don't any of the schools that would like to see seeding have it proposed statewide.

I know of a few circumstances where schools in favor of seeding are outvoted by weaker district teams looking for the luck of the draw into the region.
