5A Bowling Green (3-4) at 5A Greenwood (2-5)

The Purples, back from Fall Break, will again load the buses and travel about 5 miles up Scottsville Road to take on the Gators at the Swamp!  It will be the 38th meeting between the schools on the grid iron with the Purples undefeated.  There have certainly been close games in this series (including 1996 and 2004), but none have been closer than last year's game at Bowling Green, where BG kicked a 26-yard FG to walk off the ball game 17-14 BG.  Both teams turned it over on downs late in the 4th quarter.  GW was an underrated team last season.

Greenwood Gators Information: (TP94 Rating:  38.41)

The Gators have a new Head Coach in Tony Adams.  Coach Adams has great familiarity with this Gator program, but they certainly lost A LOT to graduation last season.  The Gators have defeated Warren East and Warren Central while falling to Station Camp (TN), South Warren, Logan County, Grayson County and Barren County.  Top Gator players include QB Tyson Howell, RB Cesar Ortega, WR Maxwell Isenhower, and JR LB Benjamin Chaffin.

Bowling Green Purples Information: (TP94 Ranking:  60.69)

BG took down the Dragons of Warren Central two Fridays ago 49-0 and advance to 2-0 in district play.  BG continues to be led by QB Anthony Davis and SR RB Nick Graham who had 11 carries for 100 yards and 2 TDs vs the Dragons.

Defensively, certainly a better product vs a team that shouldn’t challenge the Purples this season.  The target still seems to be the Franklin County game to end the regular season.  Can BG rise to the occasion against a team that beat them at Franklin in 2025?  We shall see.

Game Information:

This game will be played at Greenwood at the Swamp!  If Greenwood had their 2025 team, I honestly think BG could be in real trouble.  But that is not the case, and I think this Greenwood squad is about 2 touchdowns behind last season’s team.  They are young and it’s going to take time.  For Greenwood, just go for it, you have nothing to lose.  For Bowling Green, I’m looking to see how the defense plays again this week.  Need to show continued gains. And offensively, BG needs to start the game better. They were uneven at best against Central in the first half.

What does Greenwood need to do to break the streak?
