Carothers' dad wanted the record last night, from Facebook:

Dre Carothers

There could have been a school & state record broken tonight but…..
🤢🤮

[Redacted] the question is, why would he intentionally not let a kid who is that close break the record? I know timing is hard during an early running clocks bc possessions are very limited, but the way that game was going, they was not getting any 1st downs. As you know, there were 2 td passes thrown in the 2nd half, that could have been 9 and there was still 4:30 left on the clock when we got our last offensive possession, that could have ben 10. Even at halftime, common sense tells you that Dre’mail could have thrown 3 more td passes for the record. You know it, i know it, jason knows, everybody at the game knew it, so once again i dont buy that [Redacted].

As far as me knowing jason, i know what he told me and it aint happened yet

[Redacted] i am a dad and not a coach, but he is a coach with a kid on the team thats’s the back-up qb. Does he always think like a dad or a coach?

Is there a rule that says a kid cant play the whole game bc of the mercy rule?

Why not reward the kid?

He is in the running for Ky Mr. Football.

He is a D1 Power 4 Qb.

The kid sat for 2 years waiting on his moment when he could have went somewhere else. The whole staff knows this kid didnt want to be at catholic during 7th & 8th grade. He listened to his dad, toughed it out mentally, and it payed off.

There were many games Dre’mails Freshman and Sophomore year he NEVER touched the field during running clocks until the 4th quarter.

But i [Redacted] if it was your son, you would have wanted to see him achieve that accomplishment if he was that close.

[Redacted] with our O-line, they was not getting into the backfield. It was 55-7 in the 2nd qrtr when he let Hartz set it in 2019.

Its like this with injuries…. If you believe in God like yall say you do it was already written. So i dont buy that [Redacted]

[Redacted] kid had 7 td passes in the 1st half and the school & state record is 10. Coach took him out at halftime

I totally agree with you. Makes me feel some type of way. There is no way he shouldn’t have been able too. I looked at the record by quarters… oc put up 35 to opponents 7 in 1st qrtr, oc 20 to opponents 0 2nd qtr, oc 13 to opponents 7 in the 3rd qrtr and 0 to 0 4th qrtr.

So it was a running clock from the 2nd qrtr on.

Thats that O’Cath [Redacted], dont let Carothers break Drew Hartz record.

I been knowing this was going to happen. I got receipts from Dre’mails freshman & sophomore year were he never got in until the 4th qrtr with 1st half running clocks, but he goes out 1 possesion in the 3rd.

One qrtr last year against Ft. Knox. I aint never seen Atwell play 1 qrtr in the 2 years Dre’mail was back-up.

I call [Redacted]

I have seen the posts and to be more worried about a record then the team is really going to hurt. Going back and forth with former coaches and players on social media is not a good luck at all for the Team!

That's some of the most selfish nonsense I have ever read. It was 55-0 at halftime and there was a running clock early on. Why would any self respecting coach want to treat an opponent the way Mr Carothers wanted to? Chasing stats and records is silly and what is wrong with sports at the high school level and below. That is truly embarrassing and someone needs to do some self reflection.
