? Former St. Henry basketball coach Dave Faust will be presented with the award today at Rupp Arena between the first two quarterfinal games of the Sweet 16.

"The annual award, presented by the National High School Basketball Coaches Association in cooperation with the Wooden family, recognizes high school basketball coaches in every state who achieved excellence on the court, in the classroom, and in the community."

"The criteria are rooted in the ideals of education, longevity, character, service, and excellence that characterized Wooden, who started his Hall of Fame coaching career at Dayton High School."

I first met Coach Faust during his playing days at Newport Catholic and admired the way he carried himself, on and off the court. His quiet, unassuming leadership skills were readily evident in how he interacted with both teammates and opponents.

It was no surprise he chose a path in teaching and coaching. I've followed his long career of molding hearts and minds and am so pleased he is receiving this well deserved award.
